How to Acquire RefComp

RefComp is available for these platforms.

Linux Sun-Solaris Mac-OSX SGI-IRIX

DEC-Alpha (Compaq Tru64) HP-UX AIX 5

RefComp is not available for the Microsoft Windows operating system at this time.

Academic and Non-Profit Institutions

RefComp is available for free to researchers at academic and non-profit institutions. To aquire RefComp, please follow this procedure:

1. Read the Academic License Agreement, and fill in and submit the request form.

2. Within a few days, you will receive an email message with a user ID and password that will allow you to download RefComp.

3. When you have the password, click on the appropriate download link below.

Commercial Businesses

Commercial businesses interested in RefComp should send e-mail to Debbie Nickerson (debnick@u.washington.edu).

Downloading RefComp

To download RefComp, click on one of the links below and enter the user ID and password:

• Download for Linux

• Download for Solaris

• Download for Mac OSX

• Download for SGI

• Download for DEC-Alpha (Compaq Tru64)

• Download for HP-UX

• Download for AIX

• Download for other platforms   (by special arrangement.)

Instructions

If you need to download RefComp for more than one operating system, and you got an "authorization failure" message after the first download, please 'reload' this page and try again.

The downloaded file is named refcomp.tar.gz. The file has been 'tarred' and compressed with gzip.

To unpack refcomp.tar.gz, move the file to an empty directory. Go to that directory and run these commands:

gunzip refcomp.tar.gz
tar xvf refcomp.tar

Instructions for installing and setting up RefComp are included in the documentation file.

For security, the passwords to aquire RefComp change weekly. If the password you have has expired, please request a new one by emailing Paul Keyes (pkeyes@gs.washington.edu).
